Javier Heredia
Third Year Theology

Blessed John XXIII National Seminary
558 South Avenue
Weston, Massachusetts 02493-2699

Birthday: February 21

Home Parish: St. John of the Cross, Batesburg

Javier grew up in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and worked from age six to help provide for his family. He was lost in the violence and poverty, which was prevalent in his town, until a priest talked with him about Jesus and His love for us. He entered the seminary in 1993, but had to leave to help his family. After working for 10 years, the Bishop of Charleston invited him to join our Diocese. Javier believes God sent many people in his life to make God’s love known to him and to affirm his vocation. He re-entered the seminary in 2004. He is looking forward to serving God and the people of the Diocese of Charleston.

God willing, Javier will be ordained a Transitional Deacon on May 17, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Church in Columbia.
